National Park the Loonse en Drunense Duinen is particularly suitable for exploring on foot. It is wonderful to walk through the dunes. There are no paths in the open drifting sand area: you can walk everywhere. It is advisable to use a walking route or a hiking map, though, because you can easily get lost in the treacherous drifting sand. Outside this sandy area, nature is much more fragile and you should stay on the paths. The trails will take you to and past the most beautiful spots.

Hiking Route Network
A hiking trail network was opened in National Park De Loonse en Drunense Duinen in April 2009. The hiking trail network is based on the popular junction system and unlocks a total of 125 kilometers of exceptional hiking trails in the Loonse en Drunense Duinen. It offers options from a short detour to multi-day trips, allowing hikers to determine their own customized route. The system also connects to existing hiking networks in the province. Walking nodes are explored and marked with posts. In addition, information panels can be found at important starting points. A map and a theme guide have been published of the walking network. The map gives a detailed overview of the network including places of interest, catering and background information of the municipalities. The map is waterproof and tear-resistant for hiking in all weather conditions. A list of sales outlets for this map and guide, can be found at Routes in Brabant.
Dogs
Walking the dog is allowed everywhere in Loonse en Drunense Duinen, provided the dog is on a leash. The dog walking area is easily accessible from Natuurpoort van Loon, +/- 20 min walk.
